One of the surprises from the Anaheim ATX show last week was the interest in our new lean tool, the Lean Benefits Calculator. This is a flash-based tool that takes input of current performance data, and then allows the user to manipulate various parameters to generate an estimate of the P&L and inventory savings that may be possible through a lean initiative. Most of the Leonardo Group Americas team just returned from the ATX Automation show in Anaheim, California, and I think it would be suitable launch of our blog to summarize some of our experiences there. This is one of the largest manufacturing shows in the country, held at the huge Anaheim convention center next to Disneyland, and the Lean Factory Group was asked to put on an educational 90 minute show during the three day event. Representatives from the three Lean Factory companies were there: Leonardo Group Americas, Bosch Rexroth and Orgatex. We were given a 3,000 sf space in the Anaheim Arena (shown in the picture) with seating for 160.
We had expected a good turnout with over 500 people pre-registered for the event, but the actual turnout was over 900, which was fantastic. This is evidence of the wide interest in lean thinking, which is not totally surprising but certainly gratifying to see. We put on 9 shows over the three days, and had the presentation fully polished by day three.
